Community Health Workers (CHWs) are the bridge between healthcare and the community. The Health Initiative’s CHW Training Program develops passionate community members into skilled health educators, patient navigators, and advocates.

Training Components: Comprehensive health education, communication and teaching skills, patient navigation, cultural competence, ethics and confidentiality, community resource navigation.

CHW Roles: Conducting community health education sessions, one-on-one health coaching, helping patients navigate healthcare systems, connecting community members to medical services, conducting outreach and screenings, serving as cultural brokers.

Program Goals: Year 1: Train 5-10 CHWs. Year 2: Train 15-20 CHWs. Year 3: Train 30+ CHWs and establish train-the-trainer model.

Creating Opportunity: This program creates meaningful employment and career pathways for community members. CHWs earn certification, gain valuable skills, and build careers while serving their neighbors.
